Released for the first time in 1999 by the Bavarian State Mint, the 1/10 oz Somalian Gold Elephant coin is a sovereign minted coin struck in 99.99% pure gold (24-karat). Loved by coin collectors around the world, the bullion series is a staple in the gold bullion category.
About African elephants: African elephants are the largest animals walking the Earth. Their herds wander through 37 countries in Africa. They are easily recognized by their trunk that is used for communication and handling objects. And their large ears allow them to radiate excess heat.
About the coin: Presented to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition with a certificate of authenticity, the coin has a denomination of 100 Shillings and holds an official legal tender status backed by Somali Government.
The obverse features a detailed depiction of an elephant’s face in profile as it reaches for some leaves. A very realistic design capturing this majestic creature in all of its glory. Above the image appear the inscriptions 'African Wildlife’, along with ' Elephant' and ‘1 oz Au 999.9’. Each year release features a different elephant design on the reverse side of the coin, which makes it an excitable series to expect every year.
The reverse displays the Somalian Coat of Arms. This coat of arms has a shield with a star in the middle with lines in the background. The shield is supported by leopards standing on spears. Above their heads you will find the inscriptions: ‘Somalia Republic’, ‘2023’ and ‘100 Shillings’.
A solid addition to your international gold bullion collection.
